The Chronicles of Riddick? Of Macbeth?

I love unschooling. I love the mystery of connections.

We make connections from one thing to another, we find interesting relationships between experiences and build our learning frameworks.

Beam me up, Beowulf talks about these connections.

We had one of our own last night. Watching The Chronicles of Riddick ( Vin Diesel) I saw a connection between a character and that of Lady Macbeth.

Jonathon picked up on this, too and all our talk ran in the direction of comparing the plot of The Chronicles of Riddick and of Macbeth - similar characters? Similar treatise on ambition?

Anthony has not (yet) read or seen Macbeth so we gave a narration on the story.

I must dig out some Shakespeare re-tellings.

While smiling at the mystery of learning connections.

Okay, I like Riddick and I like most of Shakespeare and it's probably that I haven't read Macbeth fully yet but I don't get it. I can't see any connection...but that's cool coz it's your connection! ~LOL~ but I will be on the lookout for it when we do Macbeth ~wink~

Hi Leonie-

I will check out Riddick... sounds neat.

Love your connections. Yes-- to me it is the essense of unschooling/living/learning.

When I start to falter and wonder *what* it is we are doing around here... I stop and think about connections, such as the one you mentioned, and know we are on the right track.

{P.s. Love the clip art!)

Susan, the character of Barko (sp?) is very similar to the character of Macbeth - at least to our way of thinking! lol. Full of ambition, willing to commit murder to further his promotion but needs a push along these lines - and also suffers guilt or remorse.

Barko's wife is very much like Lady Macbeth - quietly feeding her dh's ambition with words and actions, encouraging the murder.Anyway, that is our thought - funny how we all see different things!

Cindy, be warned that the Riddick movie is pretty violent ( think vin Diesel and you'll know what I mean).

Ok.. showing my ignorance.. who is vin Diesel? :0

An actor, who often stars in action movies. Apart from The Chronicles of Riddick, I have seen him in the Triple XXX movie and in the family movie The Pacifier .

Cool. Thanks Leonie,
I'll file this info in the deep, dark recesses of my filing cabinet (otherwise occasionally known as my brain)

It's funny how we make connections between various things - it's all part of being a family too eh?

I also caught this connection. which is funny because I just googled parallelism in chronicles of riddick and macbeth, so I am glad I was not the only one. :-)
